Chapter Newsletters
We are currently making our most recent newsletter available online to
chapter members and non-members alike. The upside is that non-members can read the newsletter and
return the enclosed membership application. The downside is that we're making one of our chapter
benefits to non-members who haven't yet contributed to the chapter to help make it available. For now,
we encourage non-members to seriously consider joining our chapter. So long as we're able to convert
the occasional non-member into a dues-paying member, then it's a value to our chapter as a whole to make
our newsletters available here. If we determine that making the newsletters freely available allows
non-members to "free ride" on the support of paying members, then we'll discontinue the downloadable
newsletters for non-members.

 Kata Fodor
(biography) |
The Marilu Adams Scholarship for the 2009-10 school year has been awarded to Kata Fodor, a freshman on the woman's swim team.
Kata is distance swimmer from Sarasota, FL, where she was a four-year All-American and State Qualifier from Booker High School.
The Marilu Adams Scholarship was established in 2000 after the sudden death of Marilu Adams, the Central Florida Chapter
of the WVU Alumni Association’s long time Secretary. All donations from our members and 100% of our Association dues and
money raising activities goes directly to this account. There are no administrative fees deducted from these donations.
The purpose of this fund is to provide an annual scholarship to a deserving Florida student-athlete at our University.
In recent years we have sponsored John Holmes of Rockledge (football), KayJay Harris of S.W. Florida (also football) and
Tammy Wolf of Lakeland (volleyball).

Christy Martin Claims WBC Title Central Florida resident and
long-time chapter member Christy Martin claimed the WBC world female junior middleweight title on September 2 at
the New York State Fair. The decision win boosted the
Sports Illustrated covergirl's career record to 49-5-3 in the 10 round
bout. Sadly, Christy broke her hand in the opening seconds of the 10th round, an injury that
may end her career one win shy of her 50 win goal. Next time you see Christy at a game watch,
be sure to congratulate her on her win and wish her a speedy recovery. (See the syracuse.com blog for the full story.)
